If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m an extroverted introvert—literally half and half. And that balance has shaped my approach to building professional relationships.

For most of my communications career, phone calls were my sweet spot. I thrived in that space—comfortable, engaged, and able to let my personality shine. Then came COVID and the shift to video calls. It took some adjusting, but over time, I found a new way to connect “in person” virtually.

I’ve never been great at small talk, but I’m naturally curious and love hearing people’s stories. For years, I thought I was too deep for traditional networking. But here we are in 2025, and after years of Zoom meetings, I’ve built relationships in ways I never expected. That virtual practice? It’s made in-person interactions feel more natural, and I’ve seen the difference in my PR work—especially with individual clients.

And now, we’re seeing another shift. With online exhaustion setting in, face-to-face interactions are making a comeback. PR in 2025 isn’t just about digital strategies—it’s about blending them with traditional, offline tactics: community events, local media networking, tradeshows, and (yes) exchanging business cards.

But it’s not about choosing one over the other. The best approach is a mix—just like me, an extroverted introvert.
