Known as the “PR Guru for Authors,” Cherrie Woods is a seasoned public relations (PR) professional, book publicist, author, and dynamic workshop facilitator with over 20 years of experience.

Cherrie has led PR campaigns for more than 100 books across the U.S., representing authors in all genres. She has presented 60+ author PR workshops at libraries, bookstores, writers conferences, and book festivals, and has taught public relations for entrepreneurs at the college level. Her professional background includes communications and marketing roles in museums, city government, and at a PR agency.

Known for making PR approachable, Cherrie helps authors understand how strategic publicity and marketing can grow their visibility and readership.

She is recognized by author and bublishing industry authority, Jane Friedman as a Recommended Resource for her expertise in working with self-published authors and those published by small presses or hybrid publishers.

Cherrie is the author of Where Do I Start? 10 PR Questions and Answers to Guide Self-Published Authors and has been featured in several media outlets, including The Baltimore Sun, WJZ-TV, Maryland Public Television, WEAA 88.9 FM, SiriusXM, and the A Book Finds You! podcast.

She currently serves on the board of CityLit Project and is a member of the Maryland Writers’ Association and the Black Writers Guild of Maryland.
