Welcome to Author Stella Adams!
Stella Adams’ debut novel, Heavy Is The Rain, is a haunting, coming-of-age novel that deals with the lives of two children and their struggle to overcome abuse and the uncertainties of life as they grow, mature, and discover the power of love and forgiveness.
Ms. Adams’ novel begins in the 1940s with a seven-year-old Billie Cunningham’s move from rural South Carolina to Baltimore with her mother, Lilly Ann, in search of a better life. Their new life has been secured through Lilly Ann’s marriage to Herbert Brown, a man twelve years her senior, but mother and daughter quickly discover that their fresh start has come with a heavy price.
Adams’ moving debut novel also deals with themes of spirituality, revenge and redemption, and the upward mobility of African Americans during this time period. Heavy Is The Rain is quickly connecting with readers across race and generational lines, and Ms. Adams bravely tackles the unspoken issues affecting individuals and communities around the country.
